NORA
CAMP HILL
***UPDATE***
Situated in an affluent inner-city suburb, Akala has been thoughtfully designed to respond to its context and maximise the width of its site. Strong horizontal lines and generous overhangs emphasise the home’s expansive proportions, while finely detailed vertical blades provide solar protection and rhythm to the façade. The recessed upper storey allows the dwelling to nestle comfortably into its surroundings, placing the bluestone cladding, timber elements, and hanging planters prominently in the foreground.
A continuous central void connects both levels, drawing natural light deep into the heart of the home and enhancing the sense of volume and openness. Timber bridges span this void, encouraging easy movement and visual connection between different areas of the house.
Finely detailed spotted gum timber is carried throughout, introducing warmth and texture to key living spaces and creating a cohesive material palette.
